Our next concert

Sumptuous music of the 19th century is in store for our audience in the Parish Church on 23rd May. We open with the wonderful Yixuan Ren, Audience prize winner and Strings first prize winner at the TWIMS in 2024, who will dazzle her way through the technical challenges of Brahms’ mix of tradition and innovation in his Violin Concerto. After the interval the Tonbridge Philharmonic orchestra will thrill us with Beethoven’s Eroica Symphony. Discordant sounds in the first movement lead to the melodic lamentations of the second, with  syncopations in the third. To end, the composer leaves us with sounds that are lively and affirming so we can go home in a hopeful mood.

Over seventy years separates the two works, but in their time each was considered revolutionary and boundary breaking. Come and see what you think – it will be worth it!

Don’t miss this wonderful chance to hear Yixuan Ren perform !
